🚀 What is Ledger® Live?
Ledger Live is the official software application developed by Ledger® to interact with their hardware wallets — Ledger Nano S Plus and Nano X. It's the control center of your crypto journey, letting you manage coins, tokens, NFTs, staking, and more — all in one secure place.
📦 Before You Begin
- A Ledger Nano S Plus or Nano X
- Recovery sheet and pen
- Computer with macOS, Windows, or Linux
- Internet connection
💻 Step 1: Download and Install Ledger Live
Go to the official Ledger website at ledger.com/ledger-live and download the app for your operating system.
- Install the app
- Open Ledger Live
- Allow required permissions
🔐 Step 2: Set Up Your Ledger Device
After launching Ledger Live:
- Click “Get Started”
- Select your device model (Nano S Plus or Nano X)
- Choose “Set up as new device”
Follow the device prompts to generate your 24-word recovery phrase and choose a PIN.
🔄 Step 3: Verify and Initialize
Ledger Live will prompt you to verify that your device is genuine. This step ensures your wallet is not a tampered clone. After successful verification, you can proceed to install apps for various cryptocurrencies.
📁 Step 4: Install Crypto Apps
Ledger Live uses a built-in manager to install apps directly to your device. Each coin (like BTC, ETH, etc.) needs its corresponding app.
- Go to “My Ledger” in the app
- Allow access on your device
- Select and install apps
➕ Step 5: Add Accounts
Now that your apps are installed, you can add accounts for each asset. These accounts let you receive, send, and view balances.
- Click on “Accounts” > “Add account”
- Select the crypto
- Verify on device
- Account appears in your dashboard
📤 Step 6: Send & Receive Crypto
Receiving
- Click “Receive” in Ledger Live
- Choose the account
- Verify the address on your Ledger device
- Copy or share it
Sending
- Click “Send”
- Enter recipient address and amount
- Verify and confirm on your device
📈 Step 7: Monitor Your Portfolio
The Portfolio tab in Ledger Live shows:
- Total balance in fiat value
- Individual asset balances
- Performance over time
This is great for tracking market fluctuations and understanding your holdings at a glance.
💸 Step 8: Earn with Staking
Ledger Live allows you to stake select coins (like Tezos, Polkadot, Solana) and earn rewards:
- Click “Earn rewards”
- Choose eligible assets
- Delegate your tokens securely from the device
🔄 Step 9: Swap and Buy Crypto
Ledger Live offers built-in swap and buy functionality powered by partners like MoonPay and Changelly.
- Buy with debit/credit card or bank transfer
- Swap tokens between chains (ETH ↔ USDT, etc.)
- Transactions are verified on your Ledger
